Well known singer Brenda Lee Cottrell put on a concert in Canora March 16 to raise money for the Canora and District Health Care Foundation.

A total of 149 tickets were sold, and they heard Cottrell belt out the music of well known artists, including Karen Carpenter, Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark, Connie Francis, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and a number of others.

To add further authenticity to the audience experience, Cottrell changed costumes for the music of each new artist to accurately reflect their image, according to Lori Wasyliw, Canora and District Health Care Foundation chairperson.

Other fundraising initiatives during the evening included a 50/50 draw, as well as raffle tickets on a variety of items including snowmobile gloves, a homemade quilt, artwork, and also $100 cash.

Wasyliw said money raised from the evening will go toward purchasing medical equipment and facilities for the Canora Hospital and the Canora Gateway Lodge.
