Saskatchewan’s provincial parks and recreation sites hit a new attendance record of nearly four million visits in 2016. This is an increase of 108,000 visits over the 2015 record. Visitation to provincial parks has grown 32 per cent since 2007.

The Western Development Museum (WDM) is pleased to announce the members of the Board of Directors recently appointed by the Honorable Vaughn Solomon Schofield, Lieutenant Governor. The WDM is pleased to welcome two new members to the Board.

The Yorkton Milk Drop has celebrated its first anniversary, with area mothers donating over 160 liters of human milk to children in neonatal units through the Northern Star Milk Bank.

The Yorkton and Area Community Threat Assessment and Support Protocol has been re-signed. The document, which outlines how agencies work together when a violence and threat risk assessment is enacted, was originally developed in 2013.

A month before the official trip around the world, jolly old St. Nick made his appearance in Yorkton at the annual Santa Claus Parade. Floats lit up the night and kids of all ages were delighted at the sights.

The cost of the damage to the building amounted to $5,000. The contents: $3,000.00. This building was located along the tracks on Duncan Street and Dominion Avenue. A new building was constructed.

Government Relations Minister Donna Harpauer have announced the percentages of value (POV) that will be applied in the province-wide 2017 revaluation for property taxes. Changes to POV impact the tax level among property classes.

Next year will be the 150th anniversary of our nation, and Saskatchewan Express wants to kick off the celebration. The musical revue has put together Oh! Canada, a tribute to Canada’s rich history in the arts.

Joy Smith has dedicated her life to fighting against human trafficking, whether that meant making tougher laws during her time as an MP, or the reason she will be in Yorkton on December 6, to educate people on how human trafficking works in Canada.
