The seacans have finally landed. After two months of consultations, revisions, and tweaks, Yorkton City council has approved of a change to a bylaw regarding shipping containers (also known as seacans). Council voted on the matter during their Jun.

A man who drove a bulldozer into a house in the Calder area will be in prison for the next four years. Ronald Fatteicher, 60, pleaded guilty to attempted murder after driving a bulldozer into the home of his daughter-in-law in July of 2017.

A warehouse on Smith Street was destroyed by fire on the evening of Jun. 21. A call came in to Yorkton Fire Protective Services at approximately 8:00 p.m., said Fire Chief Trevor Morrissey. The fire had started in the north end of the building.

The Health Foundation is pleased to announce that Rubicon Pharmacies has made a significant donation of $10,000 in support of the residents in our long-term care homes throughout east central Saskatchewan.

Dr. Grant Wright expressed his appreciation to the Health Foundation for a new laryngoscope, worth $10,800. 鈥淭he previous scope lasted 20 years and was probably used on 10,000 patients.

At the Yorkton Regional High School鈥檚 Awards Night, the students of the school were rewarded for their hard work over the school years. Winners were as follows: PAA Award of Excellence 鈥揂ustin Hutchings - presented by Mr.

Bargain seekers and collectors shopped through a garage sale at the Yorkton SPCA lot on June 16. The event raised $3400, which will go towards general operations at the SPCA.

Gun enthusiasts set their sights on a worthy cause over the weekend. 33 shooters lined up at the Yorkton Gun Club on June 16 for the Sun鈥檚 Out Guns Out third annual wildlife habitat fundraiser.
