The government is continuing its efforts to cut red tape, making Saskatchewan more attractive for small- and medium-sized businesses.

Yorkton is among 48 communities to receive dollars through provincial Traffic Safety Fund Grants. The recently announced grants were approved for funding from the proceeds of photo speed enforcement (PSE).

The One Community One Book program wants to get families reading together, and 1,100 families in the area will be reading Slacker by Gordon Korman over the month of January. School families in St. Paul鈥檚, Columbia, Yorkdale, Dr. Brass, MC Knoll, St.

In December Yorkton Council unveiled the recipients of the 2019 Civic Recognition Awards. In the adult category Mark Schendel was the recipient. Schendel鈥檚, involvement in the community is varied.

Connor Watrych does a lot in the community. The Yorkton Regional High School student was recently recognized by the City of Yorkton鈥檚 Citizen Recognition Awards in the youth category.

The 2019 City of Yorkton Civic Recognition Awards were presented at a reception prior to the regular meeting of Council Monday.

The Soup Haven has been honoured by the City of Yorkton for its first ever group Civic Recognition Award. 鈥淲e were shocked,鈥� said Marilyn Dyck, Executive Director for the Soup Haven.
