Ridin' Right in Rhein!
The village of Rhein was swarmed with bikers on Sun., May 15. The streets were even blocked off as the Rhein 4-H Beef Activities 4-H Club organized and facilitated a Bicycle Safety Course for children in their community. The theme was: "Ride Right: Know the Rules of the Road."
The Rhein 4-H members and leaders worked hard to make this day possible. 4-H members measured bicycle safety stations, created signs, looked after station set up and even judged the riders. The club hosted special guests from Sports Mart to ensure that bicycles were safe, as well as a registered nurse who gave a presentation about saftey. Two members from the Sunrise Cycling Club came out to watch and learn, as they are hosting a similar event in June.
The idea for the bike safety day originated from the Cloverbud project and was held in conjunction with Bicycle Safety Week. Presentation materials were provided by the Saskatchewan Prevention Institution. The club also received a grant from FCC (Farm Credit Corporation), of which a portion was used towards this event. Thank you to club supporters who made this day possible.
The day ended with a sunny barbecue and a lot of enlightened cyclists. Thank you for providing such a fun and educational event for your community, Rhein 4-H Beef and Activites Club! Ride on!
