Merchandise exports in Saskatchewan totalled $2.6 billion in May 2017, up 38.3 per cent from May 2016.
In terms of percentage change, Saskatchewan had the third highest increase among the provinces.
鈥淭his is a large rise that shows Saskatchewan has a healthy and growing export sector,鈥 Economy Minister Jeremy Harrison said.聽 鈥淲e have thriving businesses right across the province which are creating jobs and attracting investment.鈥
Saskatchewan鈥檚 merchandise exports were up 6.6 per cent in the first five months of 2017, to $12.4 billion from $10.6 billion in the same period of 2016.
In May, energy products were up 63.9 per cent; metal and mineral products rose of 61.8 per cent and forestry was up 36.6 per cent.
