Yorkton Council has approved a tender to proceed with an extension to Kelsey Bay.
City Council approved the extension of Kelsey Bay and signalization of a new Broadway Street East intersection in 2010.
"The Kelsey Bay extension involves the installation of a signalized intersection on Broadway Street East; the renovation of the existing Parkland Mall entrance and the extension of Kelsey Bay. The improvements are to improve the turning movements into the mall as well as a proposed commercial development located to the west and south of it," noted material circulated at the regular meeting of Council Monday.
The project received only one tender, detailed the report.
"This tender was for the intersection upgrade, including a sub-base, base and asphalt concrete surfacing structure, sidewalk, curb and gutter, median and related works. The tender closed on June 2, 2011. There was a bid from a local contractor that was within the construction budget of $695,855 excluding GST. The sole bid was for $694,376.50."
The tender which was unanimously approved by Council was submitted by Fedorowich Construction Ltd.
