The Canora/ Sturgis RCMP would like to notify the community that Canora Provincial Court will be cancelled on April 2. All individuals who were to appear in court on that date will be contacted as their matter will be adjourned to a later date.

The Canora Ladies Bonspiel was held at the Sylvia Fedoruk Centre from March 13 to 15 with curlers from as far away as Snow Lake, Manitoba. A total of 10 teams participated, an increase over the previous year.

As the number of confirmed cases continues to rise, the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) estimates the province could see 9,000 to 15,000 deaths from COVID-19.

When the Seniors’ Centre closed its doors for coffee in Planet Veregin, we knew stuff must be getting real. And the same for gathering places all over our region. Social distancing just can’t work.

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 25 calls for service during the reporting period, some of which included two traffic collisions, one impaired driving offence, four traffic offences, four assaults, one theft, one drug offence and two mischiefs.

The Government of Saskatchewan has declared a provincial State of Emergency, giving the government broad powers to address the COVID-19 pandemic.

The suspension of activities at numerous Canora locations and an infrastructure grant application were among the items of concern for town council at its regular meeting on March 17.
