Canada has long had a reputation in the world marketplace for producing a high quality wheat. It has in essence been this country鈥檚 ace-in-the-hole in terms of marketing wheat even in times of low prices.

We know canola losses occur out the back of the combine. Are losses high enough to warrant the time spent to reduce them? They certainly will be for some combines and in some conditions. 鈥淐ombines could be throwing over 5 bu./ac.

Producers now have four per cent of the 2015 crop combined and five per cent swathed or ready to straight-cut, according to Saskatchewan Agriculture鈥檚 weekly crop report for the period to August 10.

The August sale of petroleum and natural gas rights raised $3.0 million in revenue for the province, at an average price of $306 per hectare. After four sales in 2015, land sale revenues total $35.7 million.

Soil sometimes receives less emphasis, attention, and recognition than it deserves for its role in crop production.

Environment Minister Herb Cox and Agriculture Minister Lyle Stewart announced that approximately 90,000 acres of Fish and Wildlife Development Fund (FWDF) land will be made available to cattle producers facing dry conditions.
