PRINCE ALBERT - For the first time in what seemed like a while, there wasn't a lot of new news to report on the wildfire situation in northern Saskatchewan.
In a written update provided by the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency on Tuesday afternoon, they are reporting that as of 11 a.m. there were 13 active wildfires in Saskatchewan -- the same total as the previous day. Of those six are categorized as contained, three not contained, two are ongoing assessment, and two are listed as protecting values.
So far in 2025, Saskatchewan has seen 256 wildfires, which is 100 more than the five-year average of 156 to date.
The provincial fire ban has been revoked as of yesterday, though it was noted provincial parks, municipalities and R.M.s may still have their own local fire ban or restrictions in place.
As for the communities under an evacuation order, there is no change from yesterday with those orders still covering Creighton, Denare Beach, East Trout Lake, Whelan Bay and priority individuals in Cumberland House. A number of communities have repatriated over the last several days.
The SPSA says it has confirmed more than 350 values have been lost due to wildfires province wide, and that number is expected to increase to over 500. The SPSA says that confirmation of values lost in Denare Beach is expected this week.
