Team Canada, skipped by Kevin Koe, won the 2016 Men’s World Curling Championship. They got past Denmark, skipped by Rasmus Stjerne, 5-3 in the final. Canada finished the round-robin with a 10-1 record and then beat Denmark in the page playoff between the top two teams. The last time Canada won the Men’s Worlds was in Basel, Switzerland, back in 2012
In the Arena Football League, the Cleveland Gladiators hammered the Tampa Bay Storm 41-29. The Gladiators record is 1-1 and their next game is against the L.A. Kiss.
Other scores from Week 2 were: the Orlando Predators got past the Portland Steel 53-50 and the Arizona Rattlers hammered Kiss 69-28 in a one-sided game.
In NCAA Men’s Hockey, the North Dakota Fighting Hawks won their eighth national championship with a 5-1 win over the Quinnipiac Bobcats. North Dakota’s last title was back in 2000.
In NCAA Baseball, the No. 3 Florida Gators took one of three games from the Mississippi State Bulldogs over the weekend. The Gators are in third place in the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Eastern Conference East Division.
The Minnesota Twins were swept by the Kansas City Royals over the weekend in Major League Baseball action. The Twins are in last place in the American League Central Division.
In the National Lacrosse League, the Calgary Roughnecks beat the Vancouver Stealth 16-12 in a close game. The Roughnecks’ record is 7-9 and their next game is against the Stealth.
The Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League swept the home-and-home series with the Bakersfield Condors. The Reign’s record is 43-18-4-1 and they will close out the regular season against the San Diego Gulls.
In the NHL, the Ottawa Senators closed out the regular season with a 6-1 win over the Boston Bruins. The Senators finished the regular season with a 38-35-9 record.
