Switzerland wins Women’s Worlds

Team Switzerland, skipped by Binia Fletcher, won the Ford World Women’s Curling Championships in Swift Current. Switzerland beat Japan, skipped by Satsuki Fujisawa, 9-6 in the final.

This is Switzerland’s third championship, as well as the first time Japan has medalled at the World Championships. In the bronze medal game, Russia got past Team Canada 9-8 in a close game.

In spring training, the Minnesota Twins swept their games over the weekend. The Twins are in third place in the Grapefruit League standings.

In NCAA Baseball, the No. 2 Florida Gators took one of three games from the Kentucky Wildcats over the weekend. The Gators are in second place in the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Eastern Conference’s East Division.

The Los Angeles Clippers got past the Denver Nuggets 105-90 in a close game in NBA action. The Clippers are fourth place in the Western Conference.

In the National Lacrosse League, the Calgary Roughnecks beat the Georgia Swarm 16-12 on March 25, then they lost to the Colorado Mammoth 13-12 in overtime the following day. The Roughnecks are in third place in the West Division and their next game is against the Saskatchewan Rush.

The Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League lost to the Anaheim Ducks 4-3 in overtime recently. The Senators are in fifth place in the Atlantic Division.

In the American Hockey League, the Ontario Reign split their games with the Stockton Heat over the weekend. The Reign are in first place in the Western Conference and they have clinched a playoff spot.
