The Calgary Roughnecks lost to the Saskatchewan Rush 16-10 in Game 1 of the best-of-three National Lacrosse League West Final. The Roughnecks had a 6-5 lead at half-time but they couldn’t hold the lead in the third quarter. The Rush outshot Calgary 52-45 in the game. These two teams will now face off in Game 2, which will be played at the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon on May 21. If Calgary wins, there will be a 10-minute mini game that will follow.
In Major League Soccer, Toronto FC lost to the Vancouver Whitecaps 4-3 in a close game. Toronto’s record is 3-4-4, and their next game is against New York City FC. Toronto is in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
The Ontario Reign got past the San Diego Gulls 2-1 in Game 5 to take their second round American Hockey League series four games to one. The Reign are off to the Western Conference Final.
In NCAA Baseball, the No. 1 Florida Gators took two of three games from the Vanderbilt Commodores over the weekend. The Gators are in first place and they will close out the regular season against the Louisiana State University Tigers.
The Minnesota Twins took two of three games from the Cleveland Indians in Major League Baseball action over the weekend. The Twins are in last place in the Central Division.
In the Arena Football League, the Philadelphia Soul edged the Arizona Rattlers 65-58 in a close game. The Soul’s record is 6-1 and their next game is against the Orlando Predators.
Also in Week 6, the Orlando Predators got past the Tampa Bay Storm 42-40.
