The Calgary Roughnecks got past the Colorado Mammoth 11-10 in overtime in the National Lacrosse League playoffs. The game-winning goal came at 10:17 of overtime when Dane Dobbie put it home for Calgary. Colorado outshot the Roughnecks 67-58. Calgary will now face the Saskatchewan Rush in the next round.
In Major League Soccer, Toronto FC edged FC Dallas 1-0 in their home opener. Toronto’s record of 4-3-2 puts them in second place in the Eastern Conference, and their next game is against the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Kyle Bush won the Go Bowling 400 NASCAR race, finishing ahead of Kevin Harvick, who started the race in 26th place. The next race is the AAA 400 Drive for Autism.
In the Arena Football League, the Arizona Rattlers lost to the Orlando Predators 77-59 in a one-sided game. Arizona’s record is 5-1 and their next game is against the Philadelphia Soul.
The other score from Week 6 was the Cleveland Gladiators edging the Jacksonville Sharks 41-40.
In NHL news, the Ottawa Senators have hired Guy Boucher as their new head coach. He was coaching in Switzerland before joining Ottawa, and he was formerly the coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
As for the American Hockey League, the Ontario Reign got past the San Diego Gulls 2-1 in overtime in Game 2 of their second round playoff series. The Reign won the first two games of the series.
In NCAA Baseball, the No. 1 Florida Gators took two of three games from the Tennessee Volunteers over the weekend. The Gators are tied for first place in their division.
The Minnesota Twins were swept by the Chicago White Sox over the weekend in Major League Baseball action. The Twins are in last place in the American League Central Division.
