Riders fall short in overtime

Riders quarterback Darian Durant attempted 38 passes while completing 27 for 317 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions. The Riders’ record is 0-2 and their next game is against the B.C Lions.

In other Riders news, the Roughriders have acquired defensive lineman Cedric McKinley from the Edmonton Eskimos as well as quarterback Jake Waters from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Other scores from Week 3 were: the Winnipeg Blue Bombers got past the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 28-24, the Toronto Argonauts beat the B.C Lions 25-14 and the Calgary Stampeders and the Ottawa RedBlacks played to a 26-26 tie.

The Arena Football League was on a bye week recently, and will resume its regular season on July 16.

In Major League Soccer, Toronto FC got past the Chicago Fire 1-0 in a close game. Toronto’s record is 6-6-5 and they are in fifth place in the Eastern Conference.
In NASCAR, Brad Keselowski won the Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts. Kevin Harvick started the race in first place and finished the race in ninth. The next race is the New Hampshire 301.

The Toronto Blue Jays took three of four games from the Detroit Tigers in Major League Baseball action over the weekend. Toronto’s record is 51-40 going into the All-Star Break, and they are in third place in the American League East Division.

In the Western Major Baseball League, the Regina Red Sox split their games with the Brooks Bombers over the weekend. The Red Sox are in second place in the Eastern Division.
