Regina Pats down Hurricanes

The Regina Pats are off to the second round of the Western Hockey League playoffs, after beating the Lethbridge Hurricanes 7-2 in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal and winning the series four games to one.

Pats’ goalie Tyler Brown put up two shutouts in the series, while the rest of the team outscored the Hurricanes 18-10. Regina will now face the Red Deer Rebels in the next round.

In the Ontario Hockey League, the Windsor Spitfires’ season is over after they lost to the Kitchener Rangers in Game 5 of the Western Conference quarterfinal 5-2.

The Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League split their games over the weekend. They lost to the Stockton Heat 3-2, then they beat the Bakersfield Condors 2-0 the following night. The Reign are in first place in the Western Conference.

In the Arena Football League, the Philadelphia Soul beat the Cleveland Gladiators 69-41. The Soul’s record is 1-0 and their next game is in Week 3 against the Portland Steel.
Other scores from Week 1 were: the Orlando Predators hammered the Tampa Bay Storm 76-28, the LA Kiss beat the Jacksonville Sharks 64-39, and the Arizona Rattlers hammered the Portland Steel 80-28.

In the National Lacrosse League, the Calgary Roughnecks lost to the Saskatchewan Rush 11-9 in a close game. The Roughnecks record is 6-9 and their next game is against the Vancouver Stealth.

The Minnesota Twins closed out their Major League Baseball Spring Training schedule with a loss and a tie against the Washington Nationals. The Twins finish Spring Training with a 19-11 record.

In NCAA Baseball, the No. 1 Florida Gators swept the Texas A&M Aggies over the weekend. The Gators are tied for first place in the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Eastern Conference East Division.
