Kevin Harvick started the NASCAR Folds of Honour QuickTrip 500 from the pole position. He was able to lead for most of the race and won the first two stages. In the final stage of the race, he entered the pits too fast and was assessed a pit speed penalty, which sent him to the back of the pack. He was unable to recover after that. Ironically, Brad Keselowski, who had been chasing Harvick all day, won the race. The next race is the Kobalt Tools 400.
In Major League Soccer, Toronto FC tied Real Salt Lake 0-0 in Toronto’s season-opening game. In NCAA Baseball, the No. 2 Florida Gators swept the Columbia Lions on the weekend. The Gators are in first place in the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Eastern Conference.
As for Major League Baseball spring training, the Toronto Blue Jays lost to the Minnesota Twins 6-2 on Saturday and then they lost 5-3 to the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday.
In the National Lacrosse League, the Calgary Roughnecks split both of their weekend games. The Roughnecks record is 4-6 and they are tied for fourth place in the West Division.
The Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League won one of three games over the weekend. Their 4-2 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings snapped a four-game losing streak. The Pats are in first place in the East Division.
In the American Hockey League, the Ontario Reign split their home games on the weekend, first beating the Stockton Heat 2-1 then losing to the Tucson Roadrunners 2-1.
In the Ontario Hockey League, the Windsor Spitfires won both of their games on the weekend, beating the London Knights 4-1 then beating the Sudbury Wolves 7-1.
