Team North America won their fifth straight Continental Cup, defeating Team World. North America won the championship in the last game, when Reed Carruthers made a double takeout in a skins game where points were at stake. The final score for the event was 37-23 for North America. The last time Team World won the Continental Cup was back in 2012.
In the NFL, the New England Patriots hammered the Houston Texans 34-16 in the American Football Conference divisional round. The Patriots will now face the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC championship game.
Other scores were: the Steelers edge beat the Kansas City Chiefs 18-16, the Atlanta Falcons beat the Seattle Seahawks 36-20, and the Green Bay Packers edged the Dallas Cowboys 34-31.
In NCAA Basketball, the No. 19 Florida Gators beat the Georgia Bulldogs 80-76 in a close game. The Gators are in second place in the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Eastern Conference.
As for NBA action, the Los Angeles Clippers hammered the Los Angeles Lakers 113-97 in a one-sided game. The Clippers are in fourth place in the Western Conference.
In the National Lacrosse League, the Calgary Roughnecks got past the Vancouver Stealth 14-10 in a close game. The Roughnecks’ record is 1-1 and their next game is against the Colorado Mammoth.
As for the Western Hockey League, the Regina Pats won two of three games last weekend. They lost to the Tri-City Americans 6-5, and then they won a home and home with the Prince Albert Raiders.
In the Ontario Hockey League, the Windsor Spitfires split their games over the weekend. The Spitfires are in second place in the West Division.
In the American Hockey League, the Ontario Reign won both of their games over the weekend. The Reign are in first place in the Pacific Division.
