Easter is here and I鈥檓 ready to celebrate.
For our family, Easter is infinitely more than just about bunnies and treats. Nevertheless, our kids do enjoy having an egg hunt in the backyard and some of the other traditions we鈥檝e worked in over the years.
If you鈥檙e looking for a few last minute activities, here are a few to try.
Egg Wars: Give each person an egg or two and have them decorate it as a wrestler or super hero character. Over a large bowl, face off two eggs against each other. Say 鈥淥ne, two, three four, I declare an egg war!鈥 and then smack the eggs against each other until one of the eggs is broken.
The one left is the winner and will advance to the next round. Go until you have a champion.
Adult Treat Bag Hunt: This year I filled two small canvas bags with a few treats for us as parents. I then let the kids hide them in the yard for us. They loved hiding stuff and we liked getting our own treats.
Peep Shower:Give one team member a shower cap. Then spray shaving cream on top. Have their teammate stand five feet away and throw marshmallow peeps into the air. The other person has to catch them on their head. Whoever catches the most wins.
Easter Bonnet Fashion Show: When I was a kid, we always ended up making Easter bonnets out of paper plates with a ribbon attached and tied under our chin. We鈥檇 decorate them with all sorts of things glued to the top. Challenge everyone to create their own bonnet out of random things they can find, and then have a little fashion show.
Pass the Egg: Using either a hard-boiled egg (or a raw one for the brave people), stand in a line and have one person start with the egg tucked under their chin. Then pass it from person to person without using hands. You can see how the hardboiled version would be less messy.
Happy Easter!
