Brad Gushue and his team won the men’s final at the Players Championship in the Grand Slam of Curling, beating Brad Jacobs and his team 5-4. Gushue had a 5-0 record in the men’s standings. Gushue then won his first two playoff games, against Niklas Edin in the quarter final and David Murdoch in the semi final. In the women’s final, Eve Muirhead beat Jennifer Jones 9-6.
In the Arena Football League, the Philadelphia Soul hammered the Portland Steel 70-32. The Soul’s record is 2-1 and their next game is against the Cleveland Gladiators.
Other scores from Week 3 were: LA Kiss beat the Cleveland Gladiators 47-42, the Arizona Rattlers hammered the Tampa Bay Storm 60-27.
In the National Lacrosse League, the Calgary Roughnecks lost to the Vancouver Stealth 13-12 in a close game. The Roughnecks record is 7-10 and they will close out the regular season against the Toronto Rock.
In NCAA Baseball, the No. 2 Florida Gators swept the Arkansas Razorbacks over the weekend. The Gators are in a tie for first place in the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Eastern Conference’s East Division.
The Minnesota Twins swept the Los Angeles Angels over the weekend in Major League Baseball action. The Twins are in last place in the American League Central Division.
In the American Hockey League, the Ontario Reign split their games with the San Diego Gulls over the weekend. The Reign finished the regular season with a 44-19-4-1 and they will face the San Jose Barracuda in the first round of the Calder Cup playoffs.
In Major League Soccer, Toronto FC got past D.C United 1-0 in a close game. Toronto’s record is 2-2-2 and their next game is against the Montreal Impact.
