Cheers:
Cheers to the gentleman who helped a woman when she fell on Fifth Street by Midtown Manor recently. She did not get his name but truly appreciated the kindness shown on that particular day.
Cheers to the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins for the celebrity dinner they hosted on Wednesday night. It was a great event with an entertaining speaker.
Cheers to the Estevan Motor Speedway for brining in the slingshot division, and giving local youths a chance to get involved with motorsports at an early age.
Cheers to Estevan’s Preston Brodziak for representing this city at the Telus Cup national midget AAA hockey championships. He had a great tournament and he has a bright future.
Cheers to the Â鶹ÊÓƵeast College for handing out thousands of dollars in scholarships to their students, allowing them to have some financial assistance as they pursue post-secondary education and skills training.

Jeers:
Jeers to anyone who complains about the condition of King Street, and then turns around and complains about the detour that’s now in place. We’ll all benefit when eastbound traffic on King Street has two lanes instead of one in front of the mall.
Jeers to motorcyclists who think everyone wants to hear how loud their bike is. Please don’t shatter the quiet of a peaceful evening with a loud engine.
Jeers to Estevan Mercury columnist Brian Zinchuk for a recent column. There are lots of outstanding teachers in the public school system, and most parents whose kids are in the public school system do give a damn about their kids’ future.
Jeers to whoever was responsible for the vandalism incident at the Estevan Leisure Centre recently. It’s aggravating to see the disrespect shown for a quality facility.
Jeers to the state of parts of highways like 47 and 18 in the southeast region. It’s hard to believe they weren’t in the top 10 for the annual worst Saskatchewan highways contest.Ìý
