Cheers and Jeers for March 24

Cheers: Cheers to the Estevan Police Service for their great job in getting more drugs off our streets, and making our community safer. Cheers to Telemiracle for the helping hands logo they had this year. It summed up what Telemiracle is all about.

Cheers to Telemiracle for the helping hands logo they had this year. It summed up what Telemiracle is all about.

Cheers to Kevin Kobitz for his involvement with the Estevan Student Basketball Association. Kids learned so much from him and he will be missed.

Cheers to the two men who stopped on a Sunday afternoon to push a stranded person’s car over the tracks on 13th Avenue after it stalled. Several people were passing by and these gentlemen helped move the car into the Telus parking lot.

Cheers to Power Dodge Estevan Bruins for not raising their playoff ticket prices to an unreasonable amount. At these prices, more people can afford to go cheer them on.

Jeers:

Jeers to residents who don’t move vehicles so city crews can clean streets. They need to be ticketed. And please shovel your sidewalks. Newspaper carriers appreciate it.

Jeers to the police chief who is comparing the seizure of vehicles connected to the drug trade to those who drive while impaired. The drunk driver did not pay for his vehicle with the proceeds of crime, but from the proceeds of honest work for a living.

Jeers to the use of substandard sheets in hospitals and health-care centres. The sheets look so terrible it’s hard to tell when they were laundered. Way to save money in shipping expenses for laundry.

Jeers to the driver of a pickup truck who ran a red light at the intersection of Fourth Street and Ninth Avenue on Wednesday morning. It put other people’s safety at risk.

Jeers to this year’s provincial budget. We’re paying more in taxes and receiving less in services.Ìý
