Cheers and Jeers for June 30

Cheers: Cheers to the paving of Sister Roddy Road south of Wellock Road. It’s nice to have asphalt on that section of road. Cheers to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation for organizing their annual Colour Run on Saturday.

Cheers to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation for organizing their annual Colour Run on Saturday. It’s not just kids who getting doused with coloured powder.

Cheers to Estevan Minor Baseball for recognizing Kent Phillips with their volunteer appreciation award. He has made such a difference to a lot of kids.

Cheers to Michelle Pickering on her swearing-in as the newest member of the Estevan Police Service. She’ll do a great job as a constable.

Cheers to Estevan Mercury Publications for the great job they did on their Canada 150 special. There’s a lot of cool information on Estevan’s history.

Jeers:

Jeers to the people who don't trim the trees or shrubs that grow out over the sidewalk in front of their houses. It forces people to go out onto the street to walk past them.Ìý

Jeers to the complete waste of our tax dollars on the mess now created on King Street in front of the mall, and west of Bannatyne Avenue.

Jeers to those who continue to insist on texting and driving, and engaging in other forms of distracted driving. It creates unsafe driving conditions.

Jeers to cyclists whose sense of entitlement is a little too big. Keep to the sidewalks, and leave the busy roads to vehicles. Nobody wants to be stuck behind a bicycle going 20 kilometres an hour down 13th Avenue.

Jeers to those who leave their keys in their vehicles with the engine running and the doors unlocked. They’re basically begging for someone to steal their vehicles.Ìý
