Cheers and Jeers for June 24

Cheers: Cheers to the Lampman Volunteer Fire Department and the members of the Estevan Fire and Rescue Service who responded to a house fire in Lampman. Cheers to whoever spoke out about businesses hiring out-of-province employees.

Cheers to whoever spoke out about businesses hiring out-of-province employees.Ìý Community growth is required but at what cost?

Cheers to the volunteers at MNP Chartered Accountants who cooked burgers and hotdogs for the students, parents and staff at Sacred Heart/Sacré Coeur track and field lunch, and to Bert Baxter Transport for supplying the barbecue.

Cheers to the garbage man who takes the time to wave to a family’s kids, while dumping the garbage. Such a small gesture, but it really makes their day.

Cheers to everybody who was involved with the Relay for Life in Midale. It was particularly great to see students take the initiative for this event.

Cheers to the organizers of the Rockin’ the Games cabaret at Affinity Place. The bands were terrific and it was a great way to support the upcoming Saskatchewan Summer Games.

Jeers:

Jeers to the lack of notice given when applying tar to a street. No signs were put up to warn residents so they could move their vehicles in advance. Tar is very hard to remove from a vehicle.

Jeers to the group of patrons cussing and talking about their debauchery right next to a family trying to enjoy a nice Father's Day breakfast at a local restaurant. Please consider others while in public.

Jeers to the motorists who insist on driving through stop signs and red lights without stopping. Are they in that much of a rush? Or maybe driving isn’t their thing.

Jeers to the thunderstorm that rolled through the Energy City on Tuesday night. It ruined what should have been a fun night at the fair.

Jeers to the number of mosquitoes in the Estevan area. They’re making it difficult to have a fun evening around the fire at the campground.

Jeers to those people who have been complaining about the Estevan Fair. It was a fun event, the kids had a great time, and the entertainment from the Calamity Cowgirls was terrific.
