Cheers and Jeers for August 11

Cheers: Cheers to the city workers that are in charge of the flowers on the boulevards. With the hot weather they have done a good job at keeping the city looking nice.

Cheers to the city workers that are in charge of the flowers on the boulevards. With the hot weather they have done a good job at keeping the city looking nice.

Cheers to the organizers of the Pioneer Echoes weekend, the Bull Bash and Cabaret, and the all-years school reunion, all of which happened in Midale on the weekend. It made for a memorable weekend in the town.

Cheers to the Frobisher Threshermen’s Reunion Committee for creating the corn maze. It is a tremendous addition and popular with local children.

Cheers to the Estevan Golden Eels Swim Club for winning the provincial championship for the fourth consecutive year. The kids worked hard throughout the season.

Cheers to the Estevan Salvation Army for offering the Back-to-School Backpack promotion this year. It continues to help a lot of people.

Jeers:

Jeers to the provincial government for deciding to go with passing lanes on Highways 39 and 6. We don’t need passing lanes and we don’t need twinning. Let’s use our money to keep the highways we have in good shape.

Jeers to motorists who refuse to yield the right of way to pedestrians using crosswalks. It creates a hazardous situation for those who are walking.

Jeers to those who drive late at night with loud engines in their vehicles. Nobody wants to hear how loud your truck is at 11 p.m.

Jeers to those who complain about the government not twinning Highway 39. There are still lots of accidents on twinned highways. Just slow down.

Jeers to the city for planning to have the same traffic line painting configuration on King Street from Bannatyne Avenue to Arthur Avenue. It will create problems in the winter.Ìý
