Cheers to Denna Pastachak, Colleen MacMillan and Audrey Johner for providing mini reflexology sessions to the residents at Creighton Lodge.

Cheers to all of the organizers who were involved with the juvenile broomball national tournament in Estevan last week. It was a great event that was made possible by the dedication of many people.

Cheers to Mercury reporter Sam Macdonald for his column last week on the negative impact of funding cutbacks for regional libraries in Saskatchewan.

Cheers to all of the talented performers who were part of this year’s Estevan and District Music Festival. There are a lot of talented people in the city.

Cheers to the Estevan Mermaids synchronized swim team for the tremendous showing they had at provincials during the weekend. Ìý

Jeers:

Jeers to people who do not clean up after their dog's business. Leaving it on a stranger's yard, sidewalk or in a park is incredibly disrespectful and disgusting.

Jeers to an Estevan business for firing a young man immediately after finding out he would be leaving for boot camp in July. He had worked for them for 18 months. Guess it's their way of saying thanks for wanting to serve our country.

Jeers to those who tossed their litter into the ditch during the winter months. Now that the snow has melted, there’s a lot of garbage that has been exposed.

Jeers to the motorists who continue to run red lights at the intersection of 13th Avenue and Eighth Street. You’d think they’d be smart enough to follow the laws, especially with the traffic in that area on a weekend.

Jeers to the cuts for regional libraries in Saskatchewan. Libraries can’t hold materials for people in other regions any longer. This is just one of many lost services we’ll see.Ìý
