Cheers to the Estevan Strippers hockey club for hosting another fun Spring Bust tournament. The team does a lot of good in the community, too.

Cheers to the students at Hillcrest School for the great work they did during the student art show. They have a lot of talented students.

Cheers to the Estevan Army Cadets and the Estevan branch of the Royal Canadian Legion for organizing great events to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

Cheers to the Broken Arrow Ranch for bringing Todd Holt to Estevan to share his inspiring story about overcoming sexual abuse.

Cheers to the people who showed up in front of Estevan MLA Lori Carr’s office last Friday for the Drop Everything and Read rally. Not only did they show support for libraries in Saskatchewan, but they were peaceful and respectful.

Jeers:

Ìý

Jeers the City of Estevan for allowing city-wide registration to happen at the multipurpose room of the Leisure Centre, when there were paying members who were supposed to have their exercise classes.

Jeers to an employment program for youth who denied a short-term life skills employment opportunity to a young person because of his youth criminal record.Ìý When young people take positive steps to change their lives, it's important we offer resources to help them.

Jeers to the motorist who struck a power pole last week and knocked out electricity to northern Estevan.

Jeers to those complaining about an increase in the price of gasoline. If the price of gas goes up, it’s because the price of oil is going up, and we all benefit from higher oil prices.

Jeers to those who have been hosting noisy parties now that spring is here. It’s nice to get out and have fun, but please respect your neighbours.Ìý
