Team Canada came up short at the World Under-18 Hockey Championship in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Canada lost the bronze medal game 10-3 to Team USA. Canada won all of their round robin games and the quarter-final against Switzerland, but they would fall in the semi-final to Sweden 6-5 in a shootout. In the gold medal game, Finland took out Sweden 6-1.
In the American Hockey League, the Ontario Reign split their two playoff games with the San Jose Barracudas. The Reign will look to close out the best of five at home.
In the NHL, the Dallas Stars took out the Minnesota Wild 5-4 in Game 6 to win the best-of-seven first series four games to two. The Stars are off to the second round, and they will face the St. Louis Blues.
Toronto FC got past the Montreal Impact 2-0 in a close game in Major League Soccer action. Toronto’s record is 3-2-2 and their next game is against the Portland Timbers.
In NCAA Baseball, the No. 1 Florida Gators took two of three games from the Georgia Bulldogs over the weekend. The Gators record is 36-6 overall and 13-5 in conference play.
The Minnesota Twins were swept by the Washington Nationals over the weekend in Major League Baseball action. The Twins are in last place in the American League Central Division.
In the Arena Football League, the Philadelphia Soul got past the Cleveland Gladiators 67-50 in a close game. The Soul’s record is 3-1 and their next game is against the LA Kiss.
Other scores from Week 4 were: the Arizona Rattlers got past the Jacksonville Sharks 75-68 in overtime and the Orlando Predators edged the LA Kiss 43-40.
