While we were up at the lake we noticed sandwich boards in the middle of the road on main street, advertising Legion Bingo for that night.
Always up for adventure we decided that we definitely needed to add Bingo night to our lake time. We weren鈥檛 sure if we鈥檇 be able to buy Bingo dabbers there so we hit up the corner store and purchased a pack of highlighters, just in case.
In the last year I have braved our local Bingo night with a group of girlfriends twice. It is a blast! It is also much more intense than I would have suspected.
I tried to prepare my family for what I thought we might encounter at Bingo night and the end result was a load of fun!
I鈥檇 like to put out the disclaimer that I am actually not a big fan of gambling. After I won my second Bingo, my daughter quipped, 鈥淢om, you should do this instead of work to make money.鈥� Ha ha.
Don鈥檛 worry; we stopped and had an intervention. I look at paying for my Bingo sheets as my activity fee for the night. It鈥檚 fully worth it for me for a night of fun and if I win, that鈥檚 a bonus.
If you鈥檙e not a Bingo regular, here are a few tips!
-Get there early to get your pack and set everything up. Some games require to you 鈥減re-dab鈥� certain numbers.
-Don鈥檛 start with too many cards - it can get overwhelming real fast!
-Sit beside somebody who knows what they鈥檙e doing. We were often frantically motioning to other tables to figure out what line we were going for. At the lake we sat beside a nice lady and her grandson and they helped us out immensely.
-You have to yell Bingo on the number you got it on. After the next ball drawn, you鈥檝e lost it. Tricky!
What I love about trying new things that are well established in a community is that you get to enter another local 鈥渃ulture,鈥� so to speak and that鈥檚 always a great experience.
