ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Staff Sgt. Darren Simons would like to remind residents of Carlyle: β€œThere is a town bylaw which allows residents of Carlyle to drive their golf carts to and from the local golf course. However, people have to realize that provincial statutes do not allow golf carts on any roadway.”

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ β€œWe don't mind acknowledging the local bylaw, but golf cart owners must be aware that in case of insurance and liability, provincial statutes override the municipal bylaw.”

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ β€œIf we receive complaints of people abusing this bylaw, we will be obligated to enforce the provincial statutes,” adds Simons.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ β€œRegarding safety, I would also like to remind members of the community that a valid driver's licence is required to legally operate a golf cart. In addition, golf carts are designed to carry two people – and there should never be a child in a cart on someone's lap.”

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ One alarm within the detachment area originated from a business and was found to be a non-emergency.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Several false alarms occurred at businesses in Carlyle and Redvers during this period.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Animal call(s)

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ A caller reported a steer missing in the Redvers area.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Alcohol-related offence(s)

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ An individual received a 21-day driving suspension and also had their vehicle seized for seven days for consuming alcohol while in a motor vehicle, as this was not their first offence.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ On Hwy 13 near Manor, a motorist was fined $580 for not having vehicle insurance as well as forΒ  having open liquor in a vehicle. This individual was also issued an inspection notice regarding damage to their vehicle which needed repairing.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ An individual was fined $360 for having open liquor in a vehicle.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Assault

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Members investigated the report of an assault in Arcola. No charges were laid at this time.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ BB gun

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ A youth with a BB gun in Carlyle was dealt with appropriately by members.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Breach of release conditions

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Two individuals breached their release conditions. Both were charged.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Members are investigating an incidence of criminal harassment in the Redvers area.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Drug investigation

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ In the Carlyle area, an individual was charged with drug possession. This person also received a 72-hour driving suspension for driving under the influence.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Police are currently conducting an investigation within the detachment area regarding illegal drugs.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ False pretences

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ RCMP are currently investigating a case involving false pretences in the Manor area.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Fraud

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Members are currently investigating the fraudulent use of a credit card in the Wawota area.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ RCMP responded to a hit and run in Redvers.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ A vehicle was smashed in the Arcola area. Police are investigating.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ RCMP received a report of an individual who - while leaving a home in the Carlyle area -Β  sprayed the residence with rocks.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Young people in Manor were spoken to by RCMP after knocking on doors of homes and running away.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Upon investigation by RCMP, the report of a stolen vehicle in the Kisbey area was deemed to be unfounded.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Traffic offences

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Two non-injury collisions occurred this week.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ A motorist was charged with crossing solid lines on Hwy 13 between Arcola and Carlyle.This driver did so while passing a school bus. β€œFortunately, the bus didn't have any kids in it at the time,” says Staff Sgt. Simons. β€œHowever, the solid line is there for a reason and anyone passing on a solid line is not only putting themselves at risk, but also other members of the public. Please slow down and obey the rules of the road - so everyone can get to their destinations safely.”

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ In two separate incidents - one in Arcola and one in Carlyle - two individuals were charged with driving while suspended. Both will appear in court.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Members dealt with six cases of drivers operating vehicles without proper insurance. The fine for this offence is $580.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ An individual received a warning for stunting.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Members issued several speeding tickets during this period as well as fines and/or warnings for not wearing seatbelts.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ An individual received a warning from RCMP for having a red light in the front of their vehicle. This is against the law.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Members stopped a vehicle which had the wrong licence plates attached it it.

ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ RCMP members issued several fines and warnings this week regarding vehicle repairs. β€œIt's the time of year where people are taking their trailers out on the road,” sats Staff Sgt. Simons. β€œIn one case, we had a trailer where the lights weren't working. We also had cases where licence plates on vehicles weren't attached properly or otherwise unreadable. Whether you're hauling a trailer or whether it's your everyday vehicle, we ask that people check to ensure their vehicles are in good repair and especially, that their vehicle's headlights and tail lights are working.”
