The government has recently closed a number of retail operations in the province in response to COVID-19. However, several businesses have been approved to stay open during the crisis. Yet, this situation is constantly changing as the crisis enlarges. Moreover, certain businesses on the list in specific regions, towns and cities might not be available 鈥 the decision to remain open will depend on the individual owners.
But at this time, there are many allowable retail businesses which have been declared as essential services, so they have been authorized to keep their doors ajar for customers in Saskatchewan.
Grocery and other food stores, pharmacies and convenience stores have been deemed as essential services. Additionally, shops selling beer, wine, liquor and cannabis products are also sanctioned to remain open during the crisis. Financial services are also classified as essential, but internet banking and over-the-phone enquiries are preferred.
Likewise, automotive dealers, auto repair and gas stations are included within the essential services category. Heating fuel providers are also still available, as are drycleaners and laundromats.
For a complete list of permissible businesses and services in Saskatchewan during the pandemic, go to government鈥檚 website at www.saskatchewan.ca and find the Business and Industry tab. Simply tap onto the COVID-19 Information for Businesses and Workers heading to read over the list of allowable businesses and services in the province.
The government of Saskatchewan has also assembled a Business Response Team 鈥 they will assist with enquiries from 8-8 p.m. from Monday-Friday. To speak with the response team, they can be called toll free at 1-844-800-8688, or email the team at [email protected].聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽聽
