In a message from Patrick Stoddart, Â鶹ÊÓƵeast College President and CEO, he said Saskatchewan’s regional colleges will temporarily suspend university classes to address changes implemented by the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the recurrently fluctuating conditions related to the sweep of COVID-19 throughout the world, Saskatchewan’s regional colleges will follow the lead of both Saskatchewan’s provincial universities. University classes will be deferred for the first three to four days of the week of March 16-20. These arrangements will allow both the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Regina to include the regional colleges in their current transition towards the online delivery of courses.Ìý
Given the significance effected by the COVID-19 outbreak, there will be no face-to-face instructions for university courses for the rest of the term. For University of Regina courses, beginning on Friday, March 20, classes will resume through distance teaching only.
At this time, as of March 16, all other Â鶹ÊÓƵeast College classes will continue as scheduled. However, the college will continue to respond to recommendations from public health officials and will update their information as the situation changes. Â鶹ÊÓƵeast College is taking the necessary steps across each of their locations to ensure the continued safety of both their students and staff.Ìý
Public health officials are reassessing the national and provincial public health risks based on the best available data as the situation transforms. Students and staff are instructed to read over the provincial government website www.saskatchewan.ca, where the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) link will provide the most current information available for residents in Saskatchewan.
The security and welfare of students and staff is the college’s principal motivation. Â鶹ÊÓƵeast College said they are organized to accept and support any directions originating from the federal and provincial governments and public health. The academic and training teams at the college are arranging for alternate training delivery methods for programs wherever possible and if deemed necessary. All Â鶹ÊÓƵeast College campus locations have increased cleaning protocols as well, such as the frequency of cleansing public areas.
