Singer Tenille Arts was a double SCMA winner at the 30th Annual Saskatchewan Country Music Awards, held over the weekend in Saskatoon. Tenille walked away with the trophies for Songwriter of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year.
Despite being nominated in six categories, Tenille admitted that she doesn鈥檛 really prepare an acceptance speech.
鈥淚 kind of wing it, because I think about the people that I should thank, and think about when I鈥檓 up there, but every time I鈥檝e planned that out, it never goes the way that I think it鈥檚 going to,鈥 she said. 鈥淏ecause I kind of make it specific to whatever award 鈥 you know, if it鈥檚 the Songwriting Award, I really focus on songwriting, and just try to thank the people that should be thanked for that.鈥
In accepting the 2019 Female Vocalist of the Year award, Tenille said, 鈥淭hank you to the SCMAs and everyone who voted. It鈥檚 an honor to accept this award and to be in the category with all these amazing women creating country music,鈥 she said.
鈥淏ut I cannot accept this without thanking the people behind the scenes because they are so many people that have helped me get to this place, so thank you to my original team, Hal Oven, Matt Rovey, Adam Wheeler, Craig Campbell, my Reviver team, and Dream Catcher Entertainment. I mean this is amazing, thank you so much to my family, and everybody who voted. Thank you guys so much.鈥澛
The morning after the awards show, Tenille shared the good news of her win on social media with this additional thank you and special message.
鈥淟ast night was a dream! I am so thankful to have won the #SCMA Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year! None of this would be possible without the support of my home province and it means the world to me that I鈥檓 always welcomed back home with open arms! Thank you so much to everyone who voted!鈥
Earlier this year, Tenille opened for Dylan Scott in Lynchburg and Richmond, Virginia, and the previous week with William Michael Morgan in Colorado. She made a second appearance on the ABC show, The Bachelor, this year.
