The Weyburn Public Library is planning a special day to remind readers of all ages who took on the Centennial Reading Challenge to keep reading.
On Saturday, July 13, the first 10 people to bring in their reading booklet will receive a prize.
"They need to show us that they're really taking the challenge," said Erin Graas, Adult Programmer at the WPL.
Roughly 50 people have picked up booklets and are, probably, participating in the challenge, though there is no way to know for sure. However, there is still time to take on the challenge.
"If it appeals to people, they can start now. There's no reason not to start now, said Graas.
The challenge, to read as many as 100 books in one year, has different lists for adults, youth and children. For the adults, there are more than 100 books listed and participants can simply choose their favourites from the list and up to three of their own. Some of the books on the list are very short while others are longer novels and many authors of the are from Canada and even Saskatchewan.
The challenge began on January 1, 2013 and participants have until December 31, 2013 to finish. There will be more prizes for top finishers at the end.
