Weyburn's second Habitat for Humanity recipients were announced on August 21, at the City Centre Mall. They are Robert and Shieron Phillips, along with their four children, Sydnee, Kezziah, Ethan and Victoria. Now that the family has been chosen, the next step will be to design the house.
鈥淥ur goal is to have the home closed in before freeze up, and that would give the winter months for a whole lot of interior work to be completed,鈥 stated Winston Bailey, chair for the Weyburn Habitat for Humanity committee.
Winston also noted that although getting the house put up quickly is an important goal for the committee, they would also like to provide the family with enough time to fulfill the 500 hour sweat equity part of the program.
The support from Weyburn area families and businesses in regards to donations and volunteer hours has been tremendous since the first Weyburn build was announced last year. The committee has secured a $65,000 grant from the provincial government but more is needed to make this dream home a reality.
