Kelly Panteluk Construction Ltd. (KPCL) has been saluted for their support of the upcoming Saskatchewan Summer Games in Estevan.聽
KPCL was recognized as a diamond sponsor of the Games on Feb. 25 at the Estevan Leisure Centre. Not only does the local business have their name attached to the rebuilt track and field facility south of the Estevan Comprehensive School 鈥 known as the Chamney Running Track at Panteluk Athletic Field 鈥 but the Panteluks have been awarded the naming rights for the volleyball courts at the Estevan Comprehensive School the week of the Games.聽
The Panteluks have contributed an estimated $250,000 in work-in-kind support for the track and field facility.聽
Mary Panteluk, a human resources specialist with KPCL, said the company wants to provide opportunities for local athletes to thrive. They have supported a number of other athletic facilities in the city.聽
Panteluk and her siblings grew up playing volleyball at the Estevan Comprehensive School and with youth club teams in the city, so it was natural for them to secure the naming rights for the venue.聽
鈥淚t鈥檚 been a good team sport, 鈥 working with others, and having a lot of fun as well,鈥 she told the Mercury.
They were involved with track and field as well, so they saw the value of the new track at the Comp.聽聽
鈥淭he track is just one way to provide the infrastructure so that young people do have a facility they can turn to when they are getting active,鈥 said Panteluk.聽
Her brother, Riley Panteluk, added that contributing to the people and infrastructure of the community is something the Panteluk family has always believed in.
鈥淲e take great pride in building and investing in the welfare of our communities,鈥 he said.聽
The new track will promote healthy lifestyles for youth, and help their advancement in sport both regionally and nationally.聽
He noted that he and his sisters were involved in a variety of sports, so it鈥檚 fitting to support local athletics. He also echoed his sister鈥檚 statement that the volleyball courts were an appropriate facility to have their name attached to.聽
鈥淭he Panteluk family have been huge supporters of communities in southeastern Saskatchewan for as long as I can remember,鈥 said Friends of the Games committee co-chairperson Bernie Bjorndalen. 鈥淢any of the facilities that we boast about in Estevan can be attributed to the behind the scenes work of Kelly Panteluk Construction.聽
鈥溌槎故悠礶astern Saskatchewan now has a first class athletic field, courtesy to Kelly quickly stepping up to the plate when we approached him about working on the athletic field.聽
鈥淭he Panteluks have viewed the new track and field facility as a worthy project, one that had to be done right, and will have a significant contribution in the community.鈥澛
Summer Games committee co-chair Brian Smith said they have more than $2.7 million in donations, fundraisers and work-in-kind support. They are now in their final push to reach their $3.2 million goal, which would cover their projected expenses.聽
