ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service says it is investigating a sudden death that has been deemed a homicide.
According to a news release, at approximately 8:46 p.m. on May 10, police members were dispatched to a call for service at a residence in the 1400-block of First Street. The caller reported an assault taking place on an adult.
When the EPS arrived, they located three men in the residence. The EPS said two were arrested without incident and transported to the police station. The Estevan EMS responded to the scene to care for the 60-year old victim and transported him to St. Joseph’s Hospital for treatment. He died from his injuries a short time later.
Detectives with the EPS Criminal Investigation Division have been assigned to lead the investigation and will be supported by the EPS Forensic Identification Unit. One of the arrested men was cleared of any wrongdoing and was subsequently released from custody. The EPS said the second man, 36-year old Evan Dennis Isbister of Prince Albert, has been charged with murder and has been remanded into custody. He will make his first appearance in Estevan Provincial Court on May 12.
The degree of the murder charge was not immediately released.
The victim and accused were known to each other and next of kin have been notified of the death. The name of the victim was not immediately available.
The EPS continues to investigate.
