ESTEVAN — A man with outstanding warrants from both Estevan and Weyburn was arrested by the Estevan Police Service (EPS) on May 14. The individual, who was wanted for assault and failing to appear in court, was released with upcoming court dates in each jurisdiction.

The arrest was part of a busy stretch for EPS from May 12 to 14, during which officers responded to a variety of incidents involving threats, assaults, breaches and property-related offences.

On May 14, a report of a vehicle being taken without the owner’s consent was also received and is under investigation. A statement is yet to be obtained outlining the circumstances of the matter.

On May 13, officers responded to reports of an assault and vehicle damage in a business parking lot in the city’s north end. Two victims sustained minor injuries. The suspects fled before police arrived, but both later turned themselves in. An 18-year-old male has been charged with assault and mischief, while charges are pending against a 15-year-old female.

Later that day, police received a report of a break and enter at storage units at a business in the east end. The matter remains under investigation.

EPS members also conducted curfew checks on two individuals under court-ordered conditions. Both were found in breach and will be charged accordingly.

That night, a traffic stop resulted in a woman receiving a 72-hour licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impound after showing signs of impairment. She performed poorly on a field sobriety test and provided blood samples. Impaired driving charges are pending lab results.

In a separate incident, EPS and Estevan Fire & Rescue responded to a trailer fire in the 300 block of Willow Park Greens. The trailer was severely damaged, but the occupants evacuated without significant injuries.

On May 12, police received a report of an individual banging on a door and making threats to harm a resident in a multi-dwelling unit. The subject had left before officers arrived, and patrols of the area were unsuccessful in locating the individual.

That same night, high winds triggered several false alarm calls. Officers also responded to an attempted break and enter into a residence. No entry was gained, and the investigation continues.

A report of an attempted break and enter into a residence was received during nightshift. No entry was gained to the residence and the matter remains under investigation.

Later, a disturbance outside a central Estevan residence led to the arrest of a male who was intoxicated and found to be breaching court-ordered conditions by attending the location. During transport, the man threatened to harm the arresting officer and now faces an additional charge of uttering threats. He will be released on further conditions and is scheduled to appear in Estevan Provincial Court.
