Suspects see weapons and evade police charges following incident

SASKATOON - Two people were arrested early this morning after allegedly attempting to evade police. 

At approximately 1 a.m., May 5, patrol officers observed a grey Dodge Ram being driven in a suspicious manner near Laurier Drive and Diefenbaker Drive.

A traffic stop was attempted, but the suspect driver fled at a high rate of speed.

The driver struck a parked car and a fence in the 600 block of Ells Crescent, before coming to a stop.

The driver and lone passenger were arrested from the vehicle.

The driver was believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant. The passenger was found to be concealing a can of bear spray on her person, along with methamphetamine. A stolen licence plate was located inside the vehicle.

A 29-year-old man is charged with dangerous driving, impaired driving, fail to remain at the scene of an accident, evade police and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

A 19-year-old woman was arrested for an outstanding warrant and is facing two, new weapons-related offences.
