SASKATOON — The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is warning residents of Saskatoon, Rosetown and Kindersley about potential measles exposure following confirmed cases in the areas.

Anyone who visited the following locations during the specified times should monitor for measles symptoms for up to 21 days:

Saskatoon:

  • Scotiabank (137 Kensington Blvd): Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Walmart (225 Betts Avenue): Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 10:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Rosetown:

  • Rosetown Hospital (409 Hwy North):
    • Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 8:45 p.m. to Monday, May 5, 2025, at 1:30 a.m.
    • Monday, May 5, 2025, from 9:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
    • Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 3:30 a.m. to Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 3:20 p.m.

Anyone potentially exposed should monitor for symptoms, which include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, fatigue, irritability, Koplik spots inside the mouth, and a red blotchy rash. The rash typically appears on the face and spreads down the body three to seven days after symptoms begin.

If you were exposed and are unvaccinated, unsure of your vaccination status, or develop measles symptoms, call HealthLine 811 for guidance. Measles is highly contagious and can spread through the air, remaining viable for up to two hours after a person coughs or sneezes.

Preventative treatment may be available up to six days after exposure. If you are symptomatic, do not visit a clinic in person. Instead, call HealthLine 811 for advice on next steps.

Measles is preventable through vaccination, which is safe, effective, and free. With two doses, the measles vaccine is nearly 100% effective. Residents are encouraged to check their immunization records or consult with a health care provider to ensure they and their families are up to date.
