SASKATOON — Members of the Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section are investigating Saskatoon’s third homicide of the year.
Police report that at approximately 5 a.m., May 17, they responded to a motel in the 2000 block of Avenue B North where a person was suffering from a gunshot wound. Inside, an injured 20-year-old male was located and transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
A 27-year-old male has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. A second male, identified as 26-year-old Lawrence Opikowew, is still outstanding and considered armed and dangerous. Opikokew is described as being Indigenous, 6’4” in height, 190 lbs, with short black hair and brown eyes.
