REGINA – Regina police responded to a weapons-related disturbance early Saturday morning, resulting in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of multiple firearms.
At approximately 5:55 a.m. on May 31, officers were called to a home in the 2000 block of Toronto Street after a report that a man was causing a disturbance and believed to be armed with a firearm.
When they arrived, they located a woman and a man matching the suspect description outside the home. The woman, identified as 34-yearpold Melissa Jean Belanger, was taken into custody without incident. The male, 39-year-old Tyler Nathan Desnomie, however, initially ignored police commands and retreated inside the home before later exiting and being arrested.
A search of the residence uncovered multiple firearms and ammunition.
Desnomice faces several charges, including pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a loaded or restricted firearm, and four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order. Belanger has been charged with possession of a loaded or restricted firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and careless storage of a firearm.

Belanger and Desnomie made their first appearance in Regina Provincial Court on those charges on June 2.
