WestJet direct flights from Regina to Halifax lift off Sunday

The new flights to Halifax also satisfies a desire expressed by travellers for more routes to destinations within Canada.

WestJet will commence weekly direct flights to Halifax starting this weekend.

REGINA - The latest new direct route from Regina International Airport is set to lift off on Sunday.

WestJet's weekly non-stop direct route between Regina and Halifax takes off on Sunday June 29 and will run until early September.

Regina Airport Authority touted the addition of the new route in a news release Friday. According to the airport, this route "marks another step forward in the Regina Airport Authority’s commitment to expanding air service and enhancing connectivity for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµern Saskatchewan." 

The flights depart Regina on Sunday morning at 10:15 a.m. and are due to arrive in Halifax at 17:24 Atlantic Daylight time. The return flight to Regina lifts off at 18:30 Atlantic Daylight time and is due to arrive at 20:12 Central Standard time in Regina.

The route comes on the heels of other new routes including WestJet daily flights to Minneapolis-St. Paul and the new United Express flights to Denver. The new flights to Halifax also satisfies a desire expressed by travellers for more routes to destinations within Canada.

“The launch of WestJet service between Regina and Halifax is more than just a new route; it’s the first non-stop connection between southern Saskatchewan and the heart of Atlantic Canada,” said Mike Perkins, WestJet Senior Manager, Airport Affairs.

“We’re excited to make it easier for travellers to explore new corners of Canada, reunite with family and do business across the country, all while strengthening the ties between two beautiful regions.”

Besides meeting the demand for more direct links to Canada’s East Coast, Halifax also has great European connections via WestJet’s growing network," said Kyla Antonini, Manager of Marketing & Customer Experience, Regina Airport Authority, in a statement.
