REGINA - A crucial membership vote on a potential credit union megamerger in Saskatchewan wraps up this week.
Voting concludes on Friday for members of three credit unions - Conexus, Synergy and Cornerstone — on whether to combine the three entities into a single credit union.
Voting commenced on June 3 and will conclude at noon on Friday, June 13. The vote results will be announced at 9:15 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, June 18.
A threshold of 75 per cent in favour is needed by each credit union in order to approve the merger
The vote concludes what has been an extensive process of consultation and discussions. The boards of all three Credit Unions had recommended the merger to their memberships prior to the vote.
A special meeting was held June 3 immediately prior to the voting period, and two virtual town halls were held on May 20 and 22, as well as several branch visits.
Should the merger be approved by members, it would create the largest credit union in Saskatchewan, with the new entity commencing operations on Jan. 1, 2026.
