Media from across Saskatchewan united for the Day of Caring, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for wildfire evacuees across the province.

On June 12, radio stations across Saskatchewan united in an unprecedented show of solidarity, broadcasting together to support those displaced by wildfires across the province. The first-ever Saskatchewan Day of Caring for Wildfire Evacuees brought together more than 60 stations and media portals, raising an incredible $680,345 — with donations still being accepted.

In addition, the Government of Canada has committed to matching donations, with details of the matching program currently being finalized. This means the impact of every contribution could go even further. The matching opportunity remains in effect through June 27.

In support of the Canadian Red Cross 2025 , broadcasters across the province united in a powerful show of solidarity and compassion, leading a province-wide fundraising campaign to help thousands of evacuees.

“This wildfire season has been especially challenging, and the Canadian Red Cross is working around the clock to provide comfort and care to those affected," said Luc Mullinder, Vice President, Manitoba, Nunavut and Saskatchewan, Canadian Red Cross. "We’re incredibly grateful to the radio stations and broadcasters across Saskatchewan who made the radiothon possible, and to the generous Canadians who donated. Their support is truly inspiring and provides a much-needed boost to our teams on the ground in Saskatchewan, who are working tirelessly to support affected communities”

Donations to the Canadian Red Cross will be used for assisting those impacted in Saskatchewan with immediate and ongoing relief, including financial assistance, support to evacuees and the communities hosting them, recovery and resilience efforts in response to the wildfires, as well as supporting community preparedness and risk reduction for future all-hazard disaster events within Saskatchewan.

In addition to the overwhelming support from Saskatchewan’s broadcasters and listeners, several businesses and corporations also stepped forward with generous contributions. Among them, Nutrien made a significant impact with a $300,000 donation to the Canadian Red Cross 2025 Saskatchewan Wildfires Appeal.

“This incredible show of generosity is a testament to the strength and compassion of the people of Saskatchewan. Nutrien is delighted to have played a role in bringing government, local business, and our communities together to make a positive difference in our province,” said Chris Reynolds, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, Nutrien.

“Harvard Media was proud to stand alongside our fellow Saskatchewan broadcasters for the Saskatchewan Day of Caring, in support of wildfire relief efforts across the province for Canadian Red Cross, said Zoe Vassos, Vice President, Marketing, Harvard Media. "At Harvard Media, we believe in the power of local media to uplift and empower the communities we serve — and right now, our communities need us more than ever.
