Dear Editor
Canadian Media seem to have abandoned journalistic integrity and rational thought in favour of “Canada Cheerleading” that discredits Alberta.
I would like to deal with the Canadian propaganda lie that Alberta is a landlocked prison and can’t survive independently. I have a one-word answer for you: Switzerland. Ranked third in the world in terms of GDP per capita, Switzerland is a landlocked country.
Canada is currently 20th (when it includes the wealth of Alberta). In Canada, Alberta leads all Provinces, even beating Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia when it comes to GDP per capita income. If Alberta became independent today and did absolutely nothing else, we would be one of the stronger countries in the world in terms of GDP per capita income (Canada’s GDP per capita ranking would drop significantly without Alberta’s wealth).
Can Alberta increase their GDP per capita income outside of Canada? The answer is “yes.” Can Alberta increase their oil production without the handcuffs of Canada’s production caps? The answer is “yes.” Would more international investors come to Alberta to invest in energy projects now that Canada’s crippling regulations and moving goalposts restrictions are gone forever. The answer is “yes.”
Will Canada continue to allow Alberta to use the TMX Pipeline as opposed to walking away from their $34 billion investment? The answer is “yes.” Is America open to building additional profitable pipeline capacity to the coasts to sell Alberta oil to the world? The answer is “yes.” Will Alberta benefit by no longer sending $27 billion (equalization payments, income taxes and other fees and taxes like passports) to Canada annually and by keeping that money at home, spending $27 billion on Albertans? The answer is “yes.”
Will an Independent Alberta be a prosperous and very successful country? The answer is “absolutely yes.”
