Police investigate incident involving robbery and assault

Police were dispatched to the 2000 block of 15th Avenue East for a report of a male breaking into a house, which led to an assault and a stolen vehicle as well.

PRINCE ALBERT - The Prince Albert Police Service has arrested and charged one man following an incident involving a break and enter, robbery, and assault Tuesday afternoon.

On June 3 at around 2:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the 2000 block of 15th Avenue East for a report of a male breaking into a house, which led to an assault and a stolen vehicle as well.

Further updates stated the suspect fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.

Upon police arrival, officers learned the suspect allegedly entered the residence and was asked to leave when he began to assault and then sexually assault a female victim.

The suspect then grabbed the woman’s purse and fled the scene in her vehicle.

Parkland Ambulance attended the scene and provided further care to the victim.

Other officers located the stolen vehicle unoccupied in the 1300 block of Gilmore Crescent. A member of the Prince Albert Police Service Canine Unit attended and with the utilization of a K9 track, successfully located the suspect in the 1300 block of Longworth Place.

The 31-year-old man was then arrested and has now been charged with break and enter, robbery, assault, and sexual assault.
