EAST CENTRAL β The regionβs three local Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League teams, as well as the Tisdale Trojans and the Carrot River Outback Thunder, have had their seasons suspended by the provincial government.
The province announced Nov. 25 that all team or group sports, activities, games, competitions, recitals, practices, and so on are suspended until Thursday, Dec. 17, including amateur and recreational leagues for all age groups. Hockey is included, as is curling, racquet sports, cheerleading, dance practices in group setting, and others.
βWith the announcement today by the Saskatchewan Government and Saskatchewan Health, the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League will not be playing any games after Friday at 12:01 a.m. until after Christmas,β said a statement from the SJHL.
βOnce the SJHL receives direction from Saskatchewan Government and Saskatchewan Health as to when we can commence play, an announcement will be made.β
Before the governmentβs announcement, there were hockey games suspended due to COVID-19 protocols.
The Melfort Mustangs had a Nov. 21 game against La Ronge and Nov. 27 and 28 games against North Battleford postponed.
The Tisdale Trojans had games against the Battlefords AAA Stars on Nov. 21 and 22 postponed.
