The Battlefords AAA Stars are a team that鈥檚 searching for a positive note to enter the holidays on.

Heading into a road game Thursday night against the Beardy鈥檚 Blackhawks, the Stars are mired in a five-game losing streak and are tied with the Blackhawks for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League.

鈥淲e just need to put this stretch of games away here and get back to what we do best,鈥 Stars forward Ty Mosimann said.

鈥淲e need to get back what we were doing when we were successful and sticking to our game plan.鈥

The Stars most recent setback came Tuesday night against the Prince Albert Mintos, as they dropped a 7-3 decision at the Civic Centre.

鈥淲e just aren鈥檛 playing the system right now and we aren鈥檛 listening to our coaches,鈥 Mosimann said.聽

鈥淲e need to get back to getting pucks deep, playing smart and just working together out there. When we鈥檝e done that this year, the wins have been piling up for us.鈥

Adam Beckman led the way for the Stars in Tuesday鈥檚 loss with two goals and an assist, while Mosimann dished out a pair of helpers.

Matthew Flodell had the other goal for the hosts, who recieved a 31-save performance from Carter Serhyenko.

Austin Lamotte and Kade McMillen both scored a pair of goals for the Mintos, who are in third in the league standings and three points back of the Notre Dame Hounds and Regina Pat Canadians.

Luke Nkwama, Josh Pillar and Tanner Robin also found the back of the net for the visitors.

Prior to their game with the Mintos, the Stars dropped 9-4 and 3-1 decisions to the Yorkton Maulers at the Civic Centre over the weekend.

Mossiman led the way in Saturday鈥檚 9-4 setback with a goal and two assists, while Beckman, Dylan Esau and Damon McKenzie also scored.

Beckman had the lone goal in Sunday鈥檚 rematch against the Maulers.

Following Thursday鈥檚 game with the Blackhawks, the Stars will be off until Saturday, Jan. 6 when they鈥檒l face the Pat Canadians in Regina.

Their next game at the Civic Centre will be on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 2 p.m. when they鈥檒l host the Hounds.
