The Battlefords North Stars have bounced back in fine fashion from their 10-1 pounding against Flin Flon on the weekend.

On Tuesday they travelled to Humboldt for the first of two back-to-back games versus the Broncos, and beat them 7-4.

They managed to get the win despite being outshot 44-21, but a four-goal first period put the North Stars up to stay.

In the first period Seth Summers got things rolling just 42 seconds in, and Timon Prexler made it 2-0 just 38 seconds later.

After a power play goal from Justin Jamer at the 3:03 mark, Prexler got his second of the game at 16:04, followed by Jaxon Steele鈥檚 goal at 16:41.

The most dramatic moment of the game happened soon after when Luka Spadafora was awarded a penalty shot at the 17:30 mark. But Parker Rey stopped Spadafora and preserved the 4-1 lead through one.

Ben Hiltz scored at 7:46 of the second period to extend the lead to 5-1. Jackson Bohan later responded with a power play goal to make it 5-2. Shots on goal were 14-3 Humboldt in that second period but the Stars retained their three goal lead.

The North Stars put the game completely out of reach in the third period with a power play goal from Quintin Loon-Stewardson for his 22nd goal of the season, and then at the midway mark from Dylan Esau. Goals by Logan Foster and Doug Scott on the power play wrapped up the scoring in the game.

Overall, Parker Rey stopped 40 of 44 shots for the win.

There was some controversy off the ice, however: Humboldt Broncos commentators on Hockey TV dissed the Battlefords on the air, saying 鈥渢he Battlefords are nothing.鈥

In a post on Twitter after the game Tuesday, the North Stars responded: 鈥淲e disagree. We are strong, resilient and we are a family. We came back from a rough loss a few nights back to win 7:4. We welcome the @HumboldtBroncos tomorrow evening to the CC.鈥 听听

Game time for the rematch is 7:30 p.m. at the Civic Centre. 听
